The Sacred Geography of Shakti in Kashi

Kashi is not only the city of Vishwanath. Its sacred landscape is also shaped by hundreds of manifestations of Devi. In the religious geography preserved through the Kashi Khanda and later local pilgrimage traditions, goddesses appear as guardians, mothers, Yoginis, Chandis, Gauris and cosmic manifestations of Shakti.

या देवी सर्वभूतेषु चेतनेत्यभिधीयते।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः।

Meaning: Salutations to the Goddess who abides in all beings as consciousness. Kashi is approached here as a living sacred landscape filled with Her presence.
